Right to Information

The President of India had given his consent to the Right to Information Act-2005 on 15-06-2005 and the same has come into existence with effect from 12.10.2005.


Right to Information Act is set out of the practical regime of Right to Information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities, in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority.


As per the Act, “Information” means any material in any form, including records, documents, memos, e-mails, opinions, advices, press releases, circulars, orders, logbooks, contracts, reports, papers, samples, models, data material held in any electronic form and information relating to any private body which can be accessed by a public authority under any other law for the time being in force.


As per the provisions of the Right to Information Act-2005 a citizen can ask for the information in relation to a public authority which is established, constituted, owned, controlled or substantially financed by funds provided directly or indirectly by the State Government by an application to the Public Information Officer. The Right to Information is a right conferred on the citizens of India only.


Since, the Right to Information includes a right to inspect the records, to take copies of them and also samples of goods inspected. In the process of implementation, the Right to Information Act-2005, the College is receiving number of applications from various individuals for supply of information within the time limit prescribed in the Act.


In this connection, the RTI Commitee is established in the college.

RTI Committee Objectives and Responsibilities :

Objectives
1 To secure access to information under the control of public authorities in order to promote transparency & accountability.
2 Ensure to eradicate any type of corruption in institutions, offices, industries etc.
3 To ensure disclosure of information by authorities.
4 To set up a practical regime for giving stakeholders access to information that is under the control of administration.
Responsibilities: Identify the public information officer in the institute.
1 Assistant public relation officer receives RTI requests & corresponds with application.
2 Receive the application/PIO request from the concerned persons regarding the information they want from the college.
3 Collect the necessary fee from the applicant to send the information they have requested.
4 Inform the applicant the date (5 working days) by which you will send the information based on the rules and regulations mentioned in the RTI act.
5 It is the PIO’s obligation to provide the requested information.
