Course Registration, Dropping, and Withdrawal Policy
The academic calendar provides specific timelines to help students register, drop, or withdraw from courses. This system promotes academic readiness, minimizes the risk of failure in CIE/SEE, and ensures the effective implementation of the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS).
Course Registration
- Every student must register for courses at the beginning of each semester.
- A minimum of 20 credits and a maximum of 30 credits may be registered, in consultation with the HoD or Faculty Mentor.
- Students are normally expected to register for 25 credits per semester.
Dropping of Courses
- Dropping of courses is allowed during the mid-semester window.
- It enables students with poor CIE performance to drop courses (up to the minimum credit requirement of the semester) without any entry on the Grade Sheet.
- Dropped courses must be re-registered and completed in a subsequent semester.
Withdrawal from Courses
- Withdrawal from courses is permitted during a designated period towards the end of the semester.
- Students with poor CIE performance may withdraw (up to the minimum credit requirement), and the Grade Sheet will show a 'W' grade.
- Withdrawn courses must be re-registered and completed later.
- Withdrawal is allowed after one week from the last date of the second CIE test.
Note: No separate circular or notification shall be issued for these timelines. Students must adhere to the academic calendar.
