VLSI & ASIC Design

Vision

  • To establish a center of excellence that promotes innovation, research, and advanced skill development in VLSI and ASIC design, enabling students to contribute effectively to the global semiconductor industry.

Mission

  • To deliver industry-oriented training and hands-on learning in VLSI and ASIC design technologies.
  • To encourage research, innovation, and development of semiconductor-based solutions through projects and collaborations.
  • To build strong academic and industrial partnerships to support knowledge exchange and emerging technology development.

Objectives

  • To provide comprehensive knowledge of VLSI design methodologies, architectures, and semiconductor design principles aligned with current industry practices.
  • To bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation through laboratory-based training and hands-on design activities.
  • To familiarize students with state-of-the-art Cadence, EDA tools, FPGA platforms, and semiconductor design technologies used in modern chip development.
  • To facilitate interaction with industry professionals and researchers to gain practical insights into real-world VLSI and ASIC design challenges.

Outcomes

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of VLSI design concepts, design flow, and practical applications in semiconductor systems.
  • Gain hands-on experience with FPGA development boards, simulation tools like Cadence, and electronic design automation (EDA) software.
  • Develop awareness of career opportunities, research directions, and technological advancements in the semiconductor and VLSI industries.
  • Strengthen academia–industry collaboration and professional readiness in the VLSI domain.
