ICT and Self E- Learning
Information and communication technology (ICT) has become an integral part of learning today. Countries across the world are using ICT in facilitating information dissemination and communication in all areas of education and training. E-learning is an approach to facilitate and enhance learning through, and based on, both computer and communication technology. It refers to the use of computer-based electronic technologies of internet, e-mail, and websites
Information and Communication Technologies are very vital to have a bidirectional electronic communication for the institute. To monitor the activities of the Web master and other co-ordinate with him for publishing the information on the college website and to motivate the students to use ICT for learning process and to take MOOCS courses to enhance their knowledge, college has constituted Website/ICT/Self E-learning Committee
Functions & Responsibilities:
- Providing exposure on ICT in the present-day context
- Knowledge of using Website and contacting people through e-Mail
- On-Line Information about Government Websites and Government Schemes
- Promote the Use of ICT Tools: Encourage faculty to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools (such as multimedia, virtual classrooms, and simulations) in the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.
- Support in E-Learning Resources: Provide necessary support and infrastructure for developing and implementing e-learning resources, such as online tutorials, lecture recordings, and interactive learning modules.
- Maintenance of ICT Infrastructure: Oversee the maintenance and upgrading of ICT infrastructure, including hardware (computers, projectors, networking equipment) and software (learning management systems, online platforms).
- Establish Online Learning Platforms: Develop or manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) or other online platforms for the distribution of course content, assignments, quizzes, and assessments.
- Promote Open Educational Resources (OER): Encourage faculty to create and share open educational resources like video lectures, eBooks, and other materials for easy access by students.
- Support Self-Paced Learning: Ensure the availability of online courses or resources that allow students to learn at their own pace, particularly for subjects that are difficult to grasp in traditional settings.
- Organize Workshops and Training: Conduct workshops, webinars, and training programs for faculty and staff to enhance their skills in using ICT tools, e-learning platforms, and creating digital content.
- Provide Guidance on ICT Tools: Offer faculty guidance on how to use ICT tools effectively in their teaching methods, especially for online and blended learning environments.
- Ensure Access to E-Learning Resources: Ensure that students have easy access to all e-learning resources and online courses, regardless of their location or time constraints.
- Encourage Self-Directed Learning: Foster an environment that encourages students to take ownership of their learning through self-paced courses, online resources, and peer learning platforms.
- Provide Technical Assistance: Offer technical support to students and faculty when using ICT-based tools and platforms, helping troubleshoot any issues related to online learning or digital tools.
- Monitor Content Quality: Ensure the quality of online course content, checking for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the course objectives.
- Establish Content Standards: Develop guidelines and standards for creating digital learning materials, including lectures, assignments, and online assessments.
- Ensure Alignment with Accreditation: Ensure that the institution’s ICT-based learning methods comply with accreditation standards, quality parameters, and best practices.
- Encourage Collaborative Tools: Promote the use of collaborative tools such as online discussion forums, group projects, and peer review platforms to encourage interactive learning among students.
