Student Counselling System
Student Counselling System
The Institute has established a comprehensive Student Counselling System to support students in navigating academic, personal, and professional challenges throughout their course of study. This system provides a structured framework for students to engage with dedicated faculty mentors, enabling them to seek timely guidance and make informed decisions about their academic and professional journeys.
Faculty members serve as mentors, guides, and advisors — playing a pivotal role in helping students unlock their potential, enhance their academic performance, and plan their careers with clarity and confidence.
Mentor-Mentee Program
The Mentor-Mentee Program forms the cornerstone of the Student Counselling System. Each faculty member is assigned a dedicated group of 15 to 20 students, providing sustained, personalised guidance throughout their period of study.
The program is designed to support holistic student development across the following dimensions:
- Academic Progress: Continuous monitoring and improvement of learning outcomes
- Career & Professional Guidance: Mentoring students toward informed career choices
- Course & Laboratory Support: Addressing academic challenges in coursework and practicals
- Employability & Skill Development: Building competencies aligned with industry needs
- Personal Counselling & Motivation: Offering emotional support and fostering a growth mindset
- Co-curricular & Extracurricular Engagement: Encouraging well-rounded participation beyond academics
Through this program, the Institute is committed to nurturing competent professionals and responsible citizens.
Mentoring Process
Assignment of Mentors:
At the commencement of each academic year, departments assign faculty mentors to designated groups of students. Mentors are responsible for maintaining regular interaction with their mentees, monitoring academic progress, attendance, and overall development. All relevant student information is systematically recorded in a dedicated Mentoring Book.
Mentoring & Guidance Sessions:
Mentors conduct periodic sessions to review and discuss each student's academic progress, attendance, and developmental milestones. Students are encouraged to openly share their concerns and aspirations during these interactions, fostering a relationship built on trust and guidance.
Record Maintenance & Review:
All mentoring interactions are documented in the Mentoring Book, which is periodically reviewed by institutional authorities to ensure the quality and consistency of the mentoring process across the Institute.
