A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence – The Mechanical Engineering Odyssey

Established in 2009, the Department of Mechanical Engineering began its journey with a singular vision — to shape engineers who blend technical mastery with creative thought and human values. From an initial intake of 60 students, the department has evolved into a distinguished academic centre with 180 undergraduates and a strong postgraduate community, recognized for its quality education with NBA accreditation, academic rigor, research culture, and commitment to societal progress.

The launch of the M.Tech program in CAD/CAM in 2012 and its recognition as a Research Centre by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) marked significant milestones in its pursuit of excellence.

The department now leads advanced research and innovation in Additive Manufacturing, Smart Materials, Robotics, Sustainable Energy Systems, and Computational Design.

Equipped with state-of-the-art Centres of Excellence — including the Smart Materials Lab, Robotics and Automation Lab, Additive Manufacturing Lab, Drone Technology Lab, and CAD/CAM Lab — the department provides a vibrant platform for innovation and experiential learning. These facilities empower students to explore interdisciplinary technologies and develop sustainable, real-world engineering solutions.

With a faculty team of exceptional academic and research credentials, the department fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and technical confidence. Strong industry and academic collaborations — through MoUs, internships, and consultancy projects — connect students with the evolving needs of global engineering enterprises.

The department has maintained an outstanding placement record, with graduates excelling in leading multinational companies, government organizations, and public sector undertakings such as BHEL, Indian Railways, DRDO, and Defence Services. Many alumni have also advanced into higher education, research, entrepreneurship, and civil services, building a legacy of excellence and service.
