About the Department

The Department of Civil Engineering at Marri Laxman Reddy Institute of Technology and Management (MLRITM) was established in 2009 with the introduction of the B. Tech program in Civil Engineering, admitting an initial batch of 60 students. Since its inception, the department has been committed to building a strong foundation in the principles of civil engineering, infrastructure development, and sustainable design. Through academic excellence, modern pedagogical practices, and strong industry collaboration, the department has steadily grown, now offering an intake of 120 students.

In 2014, the department expanded its academic offerings by launching the M. Tech program in Structural Engineering with an intake of 24 students, providing opportunities for advanced study, specialized research, and professional development. The postgraduate curriculum emphasizes both theoretical understanding and hands-on application, fostering analytical thinking and innovation in addressing complex engineering challenges related to structural systems, materials, and emerging construction technologies.

Accreditations and Research Recognition

A major academic milestone of the department is its recognition as a Research Centre by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), enabling scholars to pursue doctoral research in civil and structural engineering domains. The Undergraduate (B. Tech) Civil Engineering program has been accredited under Tier–I by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for three years (2025–2028) — its fourth consecutive accreditation cycle, signifying sustained excellence in quality education and adherence to global academic standards.
